Jim Herzfeld is an American film and television screenwriter and producer. Raised in New Jersey, he moved to California in 1970 and later attended UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, graduating in 1984. He began his career in television with a writing credit on It’s Garry Shandling’s Show in 1986, followed by nearly a decade writing and producing on sitcoms including Married… with Children. Herzfeld made his feature film debut as co writer of the cult comedy Tapeheads (1988), and later achieved major success with the screenplay for Meet the Parents (2000) and the story and screenplay for its sequel Meet the Fockers (2004). His development work has included projects at New Line Cinema, Columbia Pictures, and Walt Disney, including the canceled Circle 7 Animation version of Toy Story 3.
