Sofia brings out Tom's adventurous side which ignites Marina's jealous side. Meanwhile, Sarah and Denise learn that Shamiah has been confiding in Connor instead of them, leaving them no choice but to take action.

Meanwhile, Denise convinces Marina that she needs to do something special for Tom's 40th and talks her into doing boudoir photos. In addition, Sarah and Denise go overboard to impress a potential sperm donor.

The entire Hayworth family goes to attend the Windmount Academy musical to support Gretchen and Sarah. Meanwhile, in an effort to help calm Tom's nerves as he awaits news about his book, Marina proposes they take the edge off and relax by taking edibles.

Tom's potential new publisher invites himself to the Hayworth family brunch which sends him into a nervous frenzy. Meanwhile, Sarah and Marina give conflicting advice to Connor about his relationship with Windmount's vice principal, Lauren.

Tom attempts to keep Connor grounded after he announces his plans to go to space then falls into a rough patch himself after learning some bad news. Meanwhile, Marina gets stuck while trying to transform their attic into a writing space for Tom.
